We are very excited to announce that the Tambuco Percussion Ensemble will be touring in the United States this fall!
The Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel, and the Tambuco Percussion Ensemble will perform the world premiere of Gabriela Ortiz's Yanga (LA Phil commission) at the Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles, CA) on October 27th.
Yanga tells the story Gaspar Yanga, an African prince captured and taken to Mexico as a slave in the 1500s. He led a revolt and founded the first independent settlement in the Americas, San Lorenzo de los Negros, thereby becoming the first black ruler in America.
