A child prodigy, Élisabeth was a groundbreaking composer of works for the harpsichord, Italian-style instrumental sonatas, cantatas, and opera. While lesser known in modern times, her talents were regarded as comparable to some of her more famous male contemporaries such as Marais, Lalande, and Lully.
