Eve Egoyan : SOLO FOR DUET is a ground-breaking production which challenges our preconceptions of pianist and piano, expanding the role of each in relation to musical, theatrical and visual elements. Animating the concert stage, SOLO FOR DUET is an innovative, multi-sensory journey leading its audience through layered emotional musical worlds; at times introspective, startling, playful, poetic, and urgent.
The emotional and aesthetic contrasts in this gender-balanced programme are extreme, ranging from works that are exquisitely intimate to overtly theatrical. Projected visuals inspired by, in response to, and generated in real-time by Eve’s piano playing, extend the piano into a visual instrument as well as a musical one. The contrast between works allows audience members to remain open, stimulated and curious about what might be next. Engaging and visceral, SOLO FOR DUET takes the audience on a pianistic journey unlike any other.

Les contrastes émotionnels et esthétiques entre les pièces de SOLO FOR DUET sont extrêmes; alternant de la douce intimité au drame théâtral.
