About Carissa Klopoushak
Ottawa-based violinist Carissa Klopoushak has made a name for herself as a curious, creative, and versatile violinist. A charismatic and engaging performer, Carissa's playing has been described as the complete package of sensitive musicianship and effortless technique. In addition to her solo appearances, she is co-founder of the Ritornello Chamber Music Festival, singer in the Ukrainian folk-rock band Tyt i Tam, and a part of the “take-no-prisoners” string quartet, Ironwood. She released her debut album, SOUNDWORLDS, with pianist Philip Chiu. Carissa plays on a 1851 Jean Baptiste Vuillaume violin, generously on loan from the Canada Council for the Arts Instrument Bank. She plays with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and she has recently been named Interim Artistic Director of Ottawa Chamberfest, starting in that position in mid-August, 2020.
